The Department of History (UG -Honours) was introduced as per the affiliation of West Bengal Govt. Education Department under 1129-Edn. (CS), in 1985.Initially B.A. course in history in this College was started in 1970-1971 academic session. It now has five faculty positions,3 Assistant  Professors,2 State Aided Teachers. Faculty members are trying their best to run the Department smoothly. Student’s admission is done strictly on the basis of merit. The tendency of the department to follow the directives of the UGC and to keep up with the latest trends in teaching .Syllabus has been revised under CBCS system in. The format is now that of the Semester system.

• The Department organizes Departmental Exhibition in every year.
• The Department organizes Seminars class seminar and workshops.
• The Department arranges a process of continuous assessment of the students like class tests at regular interval, Internal Examination etc.
